A major milestone in my career has been the creative and concept driving force behind the $25million Jupiters Hotel & Casino theatre renovation. During the months leading up to and during the construction my role was to project manage the efforts and its effects from the entertainment department’s perspective. This also included redeploying and helping find employment for the previous entertainment staff during the renovation and  prior to the reopening, the recruitment and training of an entirely new entertainment department including technical, front of house, management, sales etc.

The new state-of-the-art Jupiters Theatre revolutionised the theatre viewing experience through modern technology and architecture including a gallery level, VIP hospitality rooms for pre and post event functions, an impressive lighting rig and a high-tech surround sound system.

With an increased seated capacity, the new Jupiters Theatre is the biggest multi-functional theatre with a mechanical thrust stage in Australia allowing for multiple seating and standing configurations for up to 2200 people including a general admission ‘moshpit’, extended stage area or additional seating. The ability to alter the size of the stage means the intimate venue is capable of taking on different configurations to suit different concert and stage show styles. 

Jupiters Theatre now features two VIP hospitality rooms left and right of stage and new bars on both the gallery and stalls level foyers.

There has been an addition of a 306 seat gallery level, new toilets facilities on both the gallery and stalls levels along with theatre retail shop space on the stalls level. 

Lift access has been extended to the previous box office level whilst the theatre and foyer spaces have undergone a complete cosmetic makeover.

Jupiters Theatre has increased wheelchair capabilities for both the gallery and stalls levels and installed a Wheelchair lift ensuring access for all guests to the front where the action takes place.

Jupiters Theatre also underwent a complete upgrade to all dressing rooms including carpet, paint, furniture, lighting, showers, toilets, etc.  A new VIP Green room has been added to side stage equipped with lounges, bars and plasma screens.

A purpose built integrated movie projection booth was also installed to accommodate the world class movie facilities of Jupiters Theatre including 3D movies, Satellite technology, a Christie CP2220 Digital Cinema Projector 20,000 ANSI Lumen, DOREMI DCP2000 Processor, Harkness SPECTRAL240 Silver Movie Screen and 7.1 surround sound in cinema configuration. A dimmer system with 500 circuits per dimmer was installed with an additional 400amps of 3 phase power available with power lock connection. A state of the art L’Acoustics KUDO Line Source Array sound system was also fitted into Jupiters Theatre driven by Yamaha PM1D with 96 Channels A Inputs & 96 Channel B inputs FOH Console. Jupiters theatre continued to be a proscenium theatre with an opening width 15 metres and an opening height of 6.5 metres.
